Navigating the Game Stats
◆ Notice: This post contains spoilers about in-game choices that the player can select to lead to different story outcomes. If you want to play through without knowing the exact mechanics as how to affect the Trust, Perception, and Resilience character stats, skip this devlog!
For the walkthrough content covered in the Chapter 1 release of The Pendant Guarden (demo 1.0), see the link here for those details. This walkthrough includes details for Chapter 2 (demo 1.1).
As mentioned in the previous walkthrough devlog, in the demo version of The Pendant Guarden, there are several choices that the player is given that can affect the story outcomes, character stats, and dialogue shown. Some choices that are provided might have no affect on the story and may even be selected out of order. Other choices are meaningful and lead to individual story experiences. In this walkthrough, the current choices available in the demo and how it affects the story will be explained.
To review the different character stats, these are the three main ones:
- Trust : The questions asked between characters can affect the level of trust and likelihood of safety in future circumstances.
- Resilience : Boldness of your character and will-power in reaching desired outcomes.
- Perception : Observations and noticeably of certain traits or intentions to guide further interactions.
◆ FIRST CHOICE: Checking Okay
The first choice made in chapter 2 is a dialogue branch that is created from prior choices made in the story. If you made choices that affected Ekon's Trust stat in a positive direction (greater than or equal to 0 points) or a negative direction (less than 0 points), Ekon's response to Wyst is different:
◇ "You look like you could use one."
If Ekon > 0: Ekon responds in a playful way.
If Ekon ≤ 0: Ekon responds in a blunt way.
◇ "Yes, I think I need one."
If Ekon > 0: Ekon responds with mixed emotions.
If Ekon ≤ 0: Ekon responds with somewhat negatively.
◆ SECOND CHOICE: Tunnel Lead
◇ "I'll go first."
Increases Wyst's resilience by +10 points
Increases Wyst's trust by +5 points
Increases Ekon's trust by +5 points
◇ "I'll follow after."
Increases Wyst's perception by +10 points
◆ THIRD (NON)CHOICE: Trust Insight
This is a second dialogue branch providing insight to your character's current level of Trust of Ekon. The Trust indicator and other indicators noted through dialogue hints will be helpful for challenges that arise in later chapters.
◇ If Trust ≥ 5: "To which I'd like to believe I can trust Ekon if we are working together in this."
◇ If Trust< 5: "To which I don't believe Ekon to be as good intended as he shows himself to be."
◆ FOURTH CHOICE: Trap Fall
◇ "Call for Ekon"
Increases Wyst's trust by +10 points
Increases Ekon's trust by +10 points
Decreases Wyst's resilience by -5 points
(Special CG Appears)
◇ "Try to save yourself"
Increases Wyst's resilience by +10 points
If Resilience ≥ 20: Successful in self save
If Resilience < 20: Saved by Ekon before fall
