Navigating the Game Stats
◆ Notice: This post contains spoilers about in-game choices that the player can select to lead to different story outcomes. If you want to play through without knowing the exact mechanics as how to affect the Trust, Perception, and Resilience character stats, skip this devlog!
In the demo version of The Pendant Guarden, there are several choices that the player is given that can affect the story outcomes, character stats, and dialogue shown. Some choices that are provided might have no affect on the story and may even be selected out of order. Other choices are meaningful and lead to individual story experiences. In this walkthrough, the current choices available in the demo and how it affects the story will be explained.
To review the different characters, these are the three main ones in the demo version 1.0:
- Trust : The questions asked between characters can affect the level of trust and likelihood of safety in future circumstances.
- Resilience : Boldness of your character and will-power in reaching desired outcomes.
- Perception : Observations and noticeably of certain traits or intentions to guide further interactions.
◆ FIRST CHOICE: Dagger Move
◇ "Push upwards with the dagger"
Decreases Wyst's perception by -10 points
Increases Wyst's resilience by +10 points
Decreases Ekon's trust by -5 points
◇ "Slow the pace of the dagger"
Increases Wyst's perception by +10 points
Decreases Wyst's resilience by -10 points
Increases Ekon's trust by +5 points
◆ SECOND CHOICE: Hesitated Questions
◇ "Who are you and why haggle for the pendant?"
No affect to story in choice order.
◇ "Why did you follow me?"
No affect to story in choice order, other than Ekon's name is revealed.
◇ "What is the other piece to the pendant?"
Revealed after at least one other question has been asked
* There is a fix that will happen in a future demo release for the question order choices not disappearing once already selected!
◆ THIRD CHOICE: Information Approach
◇ "Tell Ekon what you know"
Increases Wyst's trust by +10 points
Decreases Wyst's perception by -10 points
◇ "Ask Ekon what he knows"
Decreases Wyst's trust by -10 points
Increases Wyst's resilience by +10 points
◆ FOURTH (NON)CHOICE: Dialogue Branch
This is the first dialogue branch that is created from prior choices made in the story. If you made choices that affected the Perception stat in a positive direction (greater than or equal to 0 points) or a negative direction (less than 0 points), Wyst's thoughts about Ekon's assist with placing the necklace are different:
◇ If Perception ≥ 0: "Hearing him take a few steps closer, you sense Ekon carefully assist by shifting it from your fingers to align the opening to the fountain point."
◇ If Perception < 0: "Hearing him take a few steps closer, you sense Ekon stealthily assist by shifting it from your fingers to align the opening to the fountain point."
